People

People aren’t always nice, and that’s alright.

You can’t change the mind of the world overnight.

Although our lives seem fine, and we are busy all the time

we can’t become blind to the worst types of crime…

Those committed right under our nose.

People are busy and by the day goes

But what’s happening at large is corrupt and derailed

The problem is that the people have failed.

People aren’t always nice, and that’s alright.

People have lost the one, true light.

They don’t see the beauty in God’s greater plan,

and choose to focus more on promises of man.

Everything changes, and that’s just fine,

but can anyone see America’s decline?

“One nation under God”

The slogan’s now fraud…

People aren’t always nice, and that’s alright.

Now people consider the morals too trite.

Everyone has more rights, and less self respect,

and maybe that’s why there’s no time to reflect.

We take and don’t give,

it’s the “best” way to live.

We claim to be humble, and love this land,

So why doesn’t anyone take a stand?

People aren’t always nice, and that’s alright.

Bring back our God, try as we  might.

But that’s too offensive,

and no one’s receptive.

They call Christians bigots, and say we are shoving our religion in their face,

But aren’t we facing ridicule and disgrace?

To take a stand is to lose merit,

and in this day in age, no one can bare it.

People aren’t always nice, and that’s alright.

I didn’t plan to write a poem this evening, but I was feeling overwhelmed. I had a discussion today with my mom that incited a deeper thought in me. I feel like people continually push God out of this country, and ridicule Christianity, but when Christians disagree with a new philosophy, fad, or ideal, it’s completely outrageous and unacceptable; so, maybe its just me, but that’s all for tonight!
